Your Data Rights
How to ask what personal data we hold, request a correction or deletion, object to processing, and stop direct marketing.
Effective date 31 August 2026
Marketing Parasite Ltd respects the rights individuals have over personal data under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and any other data-protection law that applies to particular processing.
This notice explains the main requests you can make to us and how we handle them.
1. Right to ask whether we hold your personal data and to request access
You may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal data about you and, where the law entitles you to it, request access to that data and information about how it is used.
We may need to verify your identity before disclosing personal data. This protects you against someone else obtaining your information by pretending to be you.
Under Act 843, an access request must be handled promptly and, subject to the statutory provisions that apply to the request, in any event within 40 days of receipt.
2. Right to ask for correction
You may ask us to correct personal data about you that is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or misleading.
Please identify the information you believe is wrong and, where possible, provide the correct information or evidence that helps us verify the change.
3. Deletion in appropriate circumstances
Act 843 does not create an unlimited right to erase every record on request. However, you may ask us to delete or destroy personal data where, for example, the data is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete or misleading, or where we no longer have authority or a lawful reason to retain it.
We may need to retain particular records where the law, a contract, accounting or tax requirements, security needs, evidence of transactions, dispute resolution or another lawful purpose requires continued retention.
4. Right to object to processing
You may object to certain processing of your personal data where the conditions in applicable law are met.
If an objection applies and there is no overriding lawful reason to continue the processing, we will stop or restrict the affected processing as required.
5. Direct marketing — you can tell us to stop
You may require us to stop processing your personal data for direct marketing.
You can do this by
- using the unsubscribe or opt-out method in a marketing message we send;
- emailing support@marketingparasite.com; or
- otherwise telling us clearly that you do not want direct marketing from Marketing Parasite Ltd.
We may keep a minimal suppression record after an opt-out so that we can remember not to market to you again.
6. Processing that causes unwarranted damage or distress
Where the legal conditions are met, you may have the right to require particular processing to stop or not begin where it causes, or is likely to cause, unwarranted damage or distress.
Tell us what processing concerns you and why. We will assess the request under the law that applies to the circumstances.
7. Automated decisions
If we ever make a decision that significantly affects you solely through automated processing, you may have rights concerning that decision under applicable law.
Marketing Parasite does not intend to use website analytics or ordinary marketing automation as a substitute for human decision-making on whether a prospective client is accepted into an engagement.
8. Cookie consent
You can change or withdraw your choice for non-essential cookies and similar technologies at any time through Cookie Settings.
Cookie consent is separate from an objection to direct marketing. Changing analytics cookies does not automatically unsubscribe an email address, and unsubscribing from email does not automatically change browser cookie settings.
9. Rights under another applicable law
Our services are directed to businesses operating in Ghana. A person may nevertheless have additional rights if another data-protection law applies to particular processing because of the circumstances.
If you believe another law applies to your request, tell us. We will assess the request rather than assume that the location of a browser either automatically creates or automatically removes legal rights.
10. How to make a request
Email support@marketingparasite.com with the subject line Data Rights Request and include
- your name;
- the email address or telephone number you used when dealing with us;
- the right or request you want to exercise;
- enough detail for us to locate the relevant records; and
- any information reasonably required to verify your identity.
Please do not send a passport, Ghana Card or other identity document unless we ask for it and explain a secure way to provide what is genuinely necessary.
11. Fees
We do not charge a fee merely for receiving a data-rights request. Where applicable law permits a prescribed fee or permits a fee because of the nature of a request, we will explain the legal basis and amount before proceeding.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data or a rights request, contact us at support@marketingparasite.com so we can review the matter.
You may also have the right to complain to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission or another competent regulator where applicable.
